The TasScan Authenticator app lets you approve sign-ins with a tap. It is offered next to authenticator-app codes as a way to confirm it is you. SMS is never used to sign in or approve anything.
Add a phone
- Install the app.
- In the portal open Settings → Security → Push approval → Add a phone and confirm your password.
- Scan the QR code with the app, or choose Enter code manually and type the server address, enrolment ID and code shown beside the QR. The code is valid for 10 minutes and works once.
- Check that the server name shown in the app is your TasScan portal, then confirm. You receive an email when a device is added.
Sign in with a push
After your password, the web page shows a two-digit number and your phone notifies you. Open the request, check the organization, action, approximate location and browser, then tap the same number and confirm with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. A request lasts 90 seconds and can be used once. Three wrong numbers cancel it.
If it was not you
Tap Deny or This wasn't me. The sign-in is blocked and recorded, and you get an email. Change your password and review your sessions. Never tap a number for a request you did not start.
Trouble receiving requests
- Open the app: it checks for waiting requests when it starts.
- Make sure notifications are allowed for the app and that the phone is online.
- Use Use authenticator code instead on the sign-in page at any time.
New phone
Remove the old phone under Settings → Security → Push approval (this asks for your password), remove the account inside the app, then add the new phone. Keys do not move between phones.
The app talks only to your TasScan server, plus the Apple or Google push services to deliver the wake-up notification, which contains no account data. It has no analytics or advertising.
